Le Conquet and on to Brest

I was quite keen to get back to the mainland as being on my own in Ushant and in not a terribly well protected harbour was not a relaxing feeling! I made my way to Le Conquet which is not really suitable for cruising yachts but the local fishermen made me feel welcome. They offered the use of a buoy which had sunk over the winter months! Fortunately the weather was kind that night as we (Wildbird and me) held on to our length of string which purported to be a mooring strop. The next day I sailed in to Brest and tied up in the Moulin Blanc marina. I had had some trouble starting the engine and wanted to get it fixed. The engineer couldn’t entirely diagnose the problem but he did teach me how to hot-wire the engine in emergency!
